The current church on Church Street was opened in 1880/81 as a Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Prior to that there was a Primitive Methodist Chapel (pictured) in Birch's Woodyard Compton built around 1820, seating 700.
There was also a Primitive Methodist Chapel in Dove House Green built in 1862 and then Beulah Chapel on Station Street built in 1894, which closed in 1965 and the two congregations joined, initially with two ministers.
